The coaches

All Coaches have England Hockey qualifications, Are first aid trained and have completed the Safeguarding training courses unless stated otherwise. 

Neil Evans, Neil has plenty of County, regional and National League playing experience. As an out and out defender by trade, Neil also has over 13 years experience in coaching 1 to 1 and has coached hundreds of individuals. He’s also coached club level players through to junior international players. He is the Co-Founder of Hockey 4 U academy.

 

Gareth Andrew, Ex England international playing his hockey now as player/coach at City of Peterborough Hockey Club. One of the best goalscorers in the country and with over 15 Years coaching experience from Clubs, Universities and junior International Players. Co-Founder of Hockey 4 U academy.

 

Danny Willcock, With over 15 Years coaching experience including Clubs, Schools, Counties, University’s and Junior International Players. A Forward/midfielder, his playing Career includes Melton Hockey Club, City of Peterborough Hockey Club and Mansfield Town Hockey Club. He has Midlands Premier, Regional and National experience from a playing and coaching perspective along with 1st team/Club Captain and Head Player Coach experience. Danny has an extensive coaching portfolio that includes promotions and league titles for both Men’s/Ladies 1st teams, Head of Junior Development at Melton Hockey Club, England Hockey Academy Coach, Nottingham Uni and Leicester De Montfort University Coach and Head Player Coach of the Leicestershire Men’s County Squad. He has a vast amount of experience coaching/teaching across schools with children from the age of 4 and is a very experienced 1 – 1 coach.

 

Paul Hillsdon, Has a wealth of hockey experience, playing for over 20 years and coaching for over 12. He has played multiple National League seasons and continues to play his hockey at City of Peterborough HC. Paul’s Coaching has seen him coach junior and senior teams to a high standard, including national finals and league winning teams. He is also our specialist, qualified Goalkeeping coach, having coached goalkeepers at a range of levels from beginners to Performance and international level. He has worked with us for a number of years now and is an experienced member of the team.

 

Nathan Foad, A long serving member of H4UA, Nathan currently plays his hockey for City of Peterborough HC first XI. He’s also head coach of the ladies section there. Nathan has experienced several indoor and outdoor national finals as a junior and has a wealth of knowledge when coaching in any format. 

 

Jamie Oconnell, Jamie joins us with heaps of experience in hockey coaching. He has been heads of hockey at several schools and clubs whilst also gaining some international coaching experience when coaching Scotland O40s. He has also coached at various England performance centres making him a perfect fit for those wanting to take their game to the next level. 

 

Alex Cooper, Alex is the assistant director of hockey at Oakham School but also coaches the England universities team and has also just won World Cup Gold with the England Masters O45 indoor team. Alex has a wealth of 1to1 hockey experience and is a specialist in goalscoring.
